GCI is a proud sponsor of this film, about our veterans returning home from war, along with the Utah Department of Veteran Affairs. This makes the general public and our law enforcement agencies aware of PTSD and TBI affecting our combat veterans.
A brief bio about filmmaker Darin Farr
Deciding at an early age that the life of farming was not for him, Darin left rural Oklahoma at the age of 17 to join the Marine Corps. His one desire: to see the world. His experience in the Marines made this come true, even if it meant going to war. A veteran of three combat tours (Desert Storm, Somalia and the Bosnian-Kosovo peacekeeping mission), Darin eventually left the military and pursued a life-long dream. The film business had always intrigued him and he soon found work in Los Angeles on a military themed television show. After several years of trying different jobs behind the camera, he eventually found his niche as a filmmaker. As a writer and director with a passion for veterans, he has recently undertaken several film projects to aid and assist returning combat veterans, their families and the community with the multitude of issues facing young men and women who are attempting to transition back to “normal” life.
Darin Farr's latest two projects have rapidldy become standard resources used by law enforcement and National Guard Reservist units:
“The Walking Wounded” is an instructional video that educates law enforcement about combat-induced PTSD.
“Transmission on Transition” is an educational video geared towards helping veterans recognize and be aware of the symptoms of PTSD and TBI, while helping family members and spouses understand veterans' perspectives.
Darin considers himself blessed to be able to combine two of his passions into his efforts to assist veterans.
